The goal of Youth M.O.V.E (Motivating Others through Voices of Experience) Minnesota is to unite youth voices to raise awareness and reduce stigma of youth mental health disorders. In addition, Youth M.O.V.E empowers teens and young adults to be equal partners in fostering change and improving systems of care for youth mental health. Currently we engage in activities such as, reaching out to schools about reducing mental health stigma, supporting students and the community in conversations about mental health and getting involved with local events and coordinators to continue to spread awareness about mental health disorders.
Youth M.O.V.E. is a program that is overseen by the Minnesota Association For Children’s Mental Health (MACMH). Youth M.O.V.E. National oversees state-wide chapters however, MACMH is responsible for the Minnesota chapter. If you are interested in starting a Youth M.O.V.E chapter at your local school or any area in Minnesota please let us know!
Youth M.O.V.E has recently joined YouthACT (Action Council on Transition) is lead by the National Collaborative on Workforce Disability for Youth. Youth M.O.V.E has created an action plan with YouthACT to provided resources to schools and communities to empower youth and adult advisors to start local peer support groups after school or in a community location. For more information on this please visit the “Get involved” page on our website to learn more!
In alignment with Youth M.O.V.E. National, we work toward the day when all people will recognize and accept the culture of youth, their families, and the communities that serve them in order to be truly culturally competent. We, the members of the Youth M.O.V.E. Minnesota chapter, work to bring about a time when youth are no longer treated as numbers, problems or caseloads, but as individuals and humans. We will all stand together as youth, youth advocates, parents, and professionals to see youth empower themselves through their voice to become successful leaders.
